Barbra Streisand Put in a Museum

Fans of Barbra Streisand will soon be able to check her out at the Hollywood Museum.

СBarbra Streisand: The Legacy Collection' will open at the Hollywood Museum on December 1, 2005.

Among the numerous costumes in the exhibit are gowns and wardrobe worn by Streisand in movies including "The Way We Were," "Yentl," "A Star Is Born," "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever," "Nuts," "For Pete's Sake," and "The Mirror Has Two Faces," and in television specials including "My Name Is Barbra," "Color Me Barbra," "Judy (Garland) and Friends," and "The Belle of 14th Street." There is also a selection of Streisand's elegant evening gowns worn for concerts and special events.

Among the more than 1,000 items in the exhibit are eight original contracts from Barbra's first club performances, makeup face cast, high school yearbook and scholastic memorabilia. Special historical works of art include a doll crafted by a Hollywood makeup artist when she starred in "Funny Girl," original oil portraits, and even Streisand stamps. There are also set decorations from several films including "Funny Girl," "The Mirror Has Two Faces," and "Nuts."

"Barbra Streisand is the most accomplished actress/singer/filmmaker of her generation and has millions of devoted fans worldwide," said Donelle Dadigan, President and Founder of The Hollywood Museum in a statement. "Not only was she named the best-selling female singer of the 20th Century, she is the only artist ever to receive the Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, CableACE and Peabody Award. We are delighted to provide her fans and visitors to Hollywood with the unique opportunity to view this amazing collection of costumes and memorabilia."

Lou Papalas, owner of the largest collection of Streisand memorabilia in the world put the collection together.

The museum is at 1660 N. Highland Avenue, Hollywood and open between 10am and 5pm Thursday to Sunday from December 1, 2005 to February 1, 2006.
